About UsLane Aircraft was formed by Larry Lane Chapman in 1976 to be a Rockwell Commander dealer marketing the 112 and 114 Commanders. In 1978, the Company purchased Gulf Aviation, Inc., the full service FBO at the Shelby County Airport (EET), 20 miles south of Birmingham, Alabama. The Company grew to six full time mechanics; operated a Part 135 Air Taxi Certificate with five Charter Aircraft; and in addition to Rockwell, became a Cessna and Bellanca dealer. In 1984, Lane Aircraft sold the FBO, but retained it's sales identity and moved to its current location at Commander Airpark (AL17) in Wilsonville, Alabama. In July, 2003 a second office was opened at 24770 County Road 20 in Elberta, Alabama. Larry became a pilot in 1968, and holds a commercial license with multiengine and instrument ratings. He is a President's List Graduate from MSU, an Aircraft Appraiser and a Aircraft Accident Insurance Adjuster licensed by the State of Alabama.
